Our take
Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days run October 6–7 — two days when most of the products we already recommend for short-term rentals hit their lowest prices between now and Black Friday. For an operator, this is not a browsing event. It is a restock-and-upgrade event: linens and consumables in multiples, the smart-home layer at its cheapest, and one or two photo-driving amenities before the holiday booking wave. Every product below is a standing VaultSTR pick from the Host Store — we are not recommending anything just because it is discounted. Next to each one is our buy price: the number at which you stop thinking and click. If it does not hit that number, skip it; most of these dip again in late November.
How to shop it like an operator
Three rules. One: shop from a list, not from the deal page. Generate your property's exact gap list with Build My Setup first, then check only those items — Prime Day exists to sell you things you do not need. Two: buy replaceables in identical multiples. Sheets, towels, and shower liners disappear and wear out; two or three identical sets at a deal price keeps every room matching for a year. Three: judge the price, not the percentage. Amazon anchors discounts against inflated list prices. Our buy prices below are based on what each product has actually sold for at its best — a "40% off" badge above our number is marketing, not a deal.
Smart home & safety: the biggest real discounts
Smart-home hardware is where Prime events genuinely move prices — these are the five we would check first.

Kitchen: the amenity line-items
Small appliances are Prime Day's bread and butter — this is the cheapest week to finish the kitchen amenities guests actually search for.

Linens & bedding: buy in multiples
This is the restock category. Whatever you pay today you will pay again when they wear out — unless you stack them at event pricing now.

Cleaning & turnover: equipment week
Turnover gear is boring until the cleaner cancels. Prime Day is when the equipment tier gets affordable.

Outdoor: the shoulder-season plays
October pricing on outdoor gear is a quirk worth exploiting — retailers clear inventory exactly when a fire pit starts earning its keep in your listing photos.

What to skip
Three things not to buy this week. Big furniture: sofas and bed frames carry inflated anchors during events; our standing picks cost the same in a normal week. Mattresses from unknown brands: the "70% off" mattress listings are priced for the discount, not against it — stick to the mattresses we actually recommend. Anything not on your list: if it is not in your Build My Setup output or the Host Store, it is not a gap — it is an impulse with a deal badge on it.
Before the event starts
Run Build My Setup tonight with your property's real bedroom, bathroom and guest counts, untick what you own, and you have your shopping list with budget totals before the first deal drops at 12:01 a.m. PT on October 6. Browse the full Host Store for everything else, and if you are furnishing from scratch, the New Host Starter Kit is the one-page version of this whole exercise.
